It is not recommended that you use the Edit Source facility until you are familiar with the question bank source file structure.
If you are an experienced users of the system, you can use the Edit Source facility to edit the source for a question when editing a question in the Question Bank Editor.
to launch a text editing window with the plain-text script for your question pre-loaded.
In this editing window, you can edit any aspect of the question script for your question, including text content for any data field.
Note: When editing in the Edit Source facility, the source for a single question is displayed. You do not see the header information or topic statement. Also, the prefix qu.x.y of each line in the plain-text script file is not displayed. To edit the question bank in its entirety, use a text or HTML editor.
When editing a question in the Question Bank Editor, to edit the question source:
On the Question Name & Type screen, click Edit Source.
Edit the source as desired. When finished, click Ok.
Important: If you introduce a syntax error, for example, invalid field or value data, the question will be unusable. In particular, it is not recommended that you change the question type for a question.
Navigate to the Display Question screen. This process depends on the question type. In general, it involves clicking Next on the Question Name & Type screen and subsequent screens. Click Finish to register your changes.
Important: If you do not click Finish, your changes are not implemented in the cached question bank.
Important: Clicking Finish, does not permanently save a copy of a question to a hard drive. You must save your question bank to your hard drive as a .qu plain-text source file or install the question bank on the class Web site hard drive.
